OUR PROJECT

Planned trip

Our way probably leads us across the Swiss Alps to Italy, from there through Slovenia to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, Bulgaria and Turkey. Around the middle of June we will probably take a two week break to get all the visas we need, before heading towards Georgia and Azerbaijan. In Baku we will take the ferry across the Caspian Sea to Turkmenistan. Our journey then leads us through Uzbekistand and Kyrgyzstan to China. There we will head southeast towards Lhasa where we want to be around the end of October 07.

This route is a rough planning and will probably be changed due tu climatic, political and personal factors along the way.

The foundation

There are a lot of orphans living in Tibet that are in need of help. Often they don't have a home, have to shift for themselves since they are little and are not in a position to take their future into their own hands. The foundation Tendol Gyalzur in Tibet offers these children a home. In the two orphanages they find warmth and a feeling of security and their fosterparents offer them the backup of a great family. At the same time these children are beeing prepared for an occupational training or a study. All the accruing costs are paid by the foundation and that's why they depend on financial support. The foundation is a small one without infrastructure and with a staff working gratuitous in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

The foundation Tendol Gyalzur in Tibet is absolutely non-political and denominational completely neutral.

The orphanage in Toelung (close to Lhasa) in the autonomous region of Tibet was the first orphanage in Tibet at all. Tendol Gyalzur opened it in 1993 and built a second house right next to the first one in the following year. Some of the first children to live in the orphanage are now studying in different cities in China, while others are already working in different occupations. All kids are always welcome to come back to their home, the orphanage.
